How Do We Treat Chronic Heart Failure?
If you are diagnosed with heart failure, you’ll need lifelong management for the condition. Although treatment of CHF depends on its cause, it’s typically treated with drugs or implanted devices such as implantable cardiac defibrillators or cardiac resynchronization devices.
These treatments don’t always result in an improvement of symptoms for all patients. That’s why we’ve developed Optimizer® Smart; to help you find relief even when traditional approaches prove minimally effective, and other treatments aren’t yet applicable.

About the Optimizer® Smart System & CCM® Therapy
The Optimizer Smart is a minimally invasive, implantable device that delivers a proprietary CCM® therapy to patients with heart failure. CCM® therapy is a first-of-a-kind, life-changing treatment alternative for a select population of heart failure patients. CCM® signals are delivered by Impulse Dynamics’ Optimizer system (i.e. Optimizer IVs), which is an implantable pulse generator. This device is implanted in a minimally-invasive procedure under local anesthesia, typically in the right pectoral region.
Optimizer Smart was one of the first cardiac devices to be granted Breakthrough Technology designation by the FDA. It went on to an FDA Advisory Panel review where it received a unanimous positive vote on benefit-risk of the device, and ultimately received FDA approval in March of 2019. Optimizer® Smart is the only FDA-approved device in the United States or elsewhere for the delivery of CCM® therapy.
